What is Nose Aesthetics?

Nose aesthetics is the procedure that alters the shape of the nose by making adjustments to the cartilage and bone structure. A commonly preferred surgery within aesthetic and plastic surgery operations, nose aesthetics can be performed for both aesthetic concerns and health issues.

Nose aesthetics is a complex operation aimed at correcting congenital or trauma-induced deformities in the nose. The final results of nose aesthetics may take between 6 – 12 months to fully manifest. The structure of the nasal tissues, the size of the nose, or the existing problem all impact the healing process. Even a small operation can lead to significant results and changes, so it is crucial that it is performed by expert surgeons. Additionally, to ensure a natural aesthetic appearance, it is important that the procedure is carried out by skilled specialists to avoid an unnatural outcome.

Why is Nose Aesthetics Performed?

Nose aesthetics is performed to achieve both an improved aesthetic appearance and to solve health-related issues. It is often done due to problems that affect breathing. Some respiratory issues are visible, while others may occur within the internal structure of the nose and not be noticeable from the outside.

Another common reason for nose aesthetics is when a person is dissatisfied with the appearance of their nose and desires a different nasal look.

Issues such as crooked or protruding nasal bones, cartilage structure irregularities, asymmetric appearance, or an overly large nose are among the reasons that necessitate nose aesthetics.

How is Nose Aesthetics Performed?

The process before nose aesthetics is as important as the surgery itself. First, the doctor performs necessary tests and examinations to determine whether the patient is suitable for the procedure. The patient’s skin, internal, and external nasal structures are examined, and the necessary changes are planned. The procedure, such as nasal tip aesthetics or secondary rhinoplasty, is tailored according to the needs and preferences.

Nose aesthetics surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia. Small adjustments may be made under local anesthesia. The operation generally lasts about 2 hours.

Who Should Not Have Nose Aesthetics?

Certain health conditions may prevent someone from undergoing nose aesthetics. For example, body dysmorphic disorder, where a person has an exaggerated preoccupation with their appearance, is a contraindication. Obstructive sleep apnea, which causes breathing blockages during sleep, is also a contraindication. Bleeding disorders may cause complications during or after the surgery.

Post-Operative Care After Nose Aesthetics?

There are several points to pay attention to both before and after the surgery to help speed up the recovery process.

After the surgery, it is recommended that you avoid standing up for the first 4 to 6 hours. Only liquid food intake is advised during the initial period. To prevent bleeding, use a high pillow, avoid blowing your nose for the first 15 days, and do not allow water to enter the nose. It is also important to refrain from high-intensity sports activities.
